The Old School is a small tea room, available for hire for parties of up to forty people, for family gatherings, walking parties, cycling groups, social events, business meetings etc. with or without catering.
Our premises is the old village school, built in 1874. We purchased the property in 1997, opened a tea-room in 1998 which we ran successfully for five years. In 2002 we decided to specialise and now cater exclusively for private functions.
We are situated in the middle of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, two miles from Grassington. Our premises provides an ideal starting or finishing point for picturesque walks along the River Wharfe or for visiting Hebden Gill and its historic lead mines. We have a small car park and the village provides plenty of free on-street parking.
We are a non smoking venue.
We offer a wide variety of menus, roast beef and yorkshire pudding, steak and ale pie, ham eggs and chips, full buffets, soup and sandwiches, afternoon teas, high teas etc. All food is home-made on the premises using locally sourced produce when-ever possible. Home-made cakes are a speciality with such favourites as lemon drizzle, carrot cake, date and walnut and chocolate cake. A Christmas menu is also available, but please note that we do not open on Christmas Day.
